Sheffield Cricket Lovers' Society Year Book 2026
The Ashes Series 2005 July 2025 Tongue in cheek, poetic musings by SCLS member, Jeremy Biggin, to whet your appetite for this winter’s battle over in Oz. His recollections from a home Ashes earlier this century stir the memory. They recall the ups/downs and the in- betweens that inevitably occur when the two nations. Set about each other, weighed down by history but emboldened by hope Oughtibridge CC Mar 2025 A thoroughly absorbing, not to say uplifting, account of the Sheffield area club’s progress on and off the field by skipper, Will Cooper, who has played for them for three years now. Written after Oughtibridge 1st X1’s promotion to YPL South Championship division, his twin hopes are on the team gaining a foothold at that level and continuing to strengthen their women’s and junior sections. Richard Pyrah Interview Mar 2025 The double County Championship winner with Yorkshire in 2014 and 2015 served the club well before moving into coaching. This interview in March 2025 saw him looking forward to leading Yorkshire Women’s team as Head Coach in the newly constructed system, initially in Tier 1. In this professional era for women he had twelve fully contracted women to start the journey… I Never Met Sachin Tendulkar… Jan 2024 Humour is never far away when one of our members, Jeremey Biggin, is in the chair. Who can deny that cricket throws up the very best anecdotes? Jasmine Nicholls Jan 2023 Yorkshire Cricket’s groundswoman, Jasmine Nicholls, has written an honest account of how she has learned to cope with mental health struggles. Well, not only cope, but move on in a big way by flourishing and going from being ‘invisible’ to ‘visible’. When this interview was carried out she was combining establishing her career in the turf industry whilst training as an athlete. Time for a catch-up then… Our website - are you missing out?...
